Current Knowledge and Future Directions for Improving Subsoiling Quality and Reducing Energy Consumption in Conservation Fields

Subsoiling has been acknowledged worldwide to break compacted hardpan, improve soil permeability and water storage capacity, promote topsoil deepening root growth. However, there exist certain factors which limit the wide in-field application of subsoiling machines. Of these factors, main two are poor quality high energy consumption, especially undesired tillage depth obtained in field with cover crops. Based on analysis global adoption benefits technology, status machines, this article reviewed research methods, technical characteristics, developing trends five key aspects, including shovel design, anti-drag technologies, technologies detection control, mechanical interaction. Combined progress requirements machines across globe, current problems difficulties were analyzed summarized. Aiming solve problems, quality, reduce proposed future directions for development optimizing model computer simulation, strengthening mechanism comprehensive effect, new monitoring control systems, improving wear-resisting properties shovels.
